Oliver Antrim, Son of Maxwell, Apprentice of Adamane | ||||||
|
Born the only son of Maxwell Antrim, Oliver has lived a pampered life, and he can only expect it to get better. He stands to inherit a prosperous business, a fine house and a small fortune. Unfortunately his father has designs on becoming a Prince or at the very least making his family royalty. Oliver is only distantly aware of these plans and would be surprised to learn that his father has been looking to arrange a marriage into a struggling princely family. A few well placed bribes would ensure that the title transferred with the marriage. He has no siblings, and his mother is dead of a wasting disease years ago. That |

was the impetus behind the move to pastoral Munevar from the "big cities", such as Errant Keep. Maxwell does hope that Oliver isn't killed by a plague or some wandering army. Maxwell isn't without pity on the boy, however, and indulges him with a generous allowance and a long leash. He feels Oliver should not be saddled with regrets when he is forced into a more political position and saddled with responsibility. He also has taken steps to instill a healthy distrust of the aristocracy itself, pointing out the differences and excesses of the royals. Oliver has been given a position with the local forest warden so he learns the value of work, but he is sporadic with his work attendance, more interested instead on drinking and having a roll with the local "bad girls". Despite his life of loafing Oliver remains trim and string thanks to a high metabolism and heavy work in the fields and forest when he does show up. His life has provided him ample opportunity to practice several skills that wouldn't be normally found in a country bumpkin. His father trained him in Old Oeridian (more future thinking) and he has been given training which will be of some use when he inherits the family business. More recently, he has spent his time learning a new set of skills from Adamane, a ranger of the Adri forest. |
