Galen of Munevar, 2nd Son of Herrel, Prince of Munevar
Galen is the third and youngest child of Lady Jenne and Prince Herrel, head of Munevar's current ruling house. His eldest sibling is his brother Dedric, followed by his sister Kanna. As the youngest son, Galen has a scant probability in inheriting his father's title as Prince of Munevar, and as such has shied away from princely affairs such as tending to the lands and serfs, representing the family at official functions, and generally behaving like a gentleman. These matters are left in the hands of Dedric, which Galen has ultimately come to accept. Somewhat disdainful and jealous of his brother's status in the the community, relations between the two brothers are presently constrained and practically non-existent. He enjoys the company of his sister Kanna, although recently the two seem to be drifting apart.

Unable to compete with Dedric for his father's affections and approval, Galen became cocky, undisciplined, unfocussed, and rebellious as a teenager. He continues his rebellious ways and contemptuousness towards his father, and this lifestyle has recently escalated through his friendship with Oliver Antrim, son of a local merchant. Galen enjoys spending time with Oliver at the local tavern where the two routinely engage in heavy drinking, seducing the local worthy wenches, and genuinely making asses of themselves. Such is the only entertainment in the mundane country-bumpkin locale that is Munevar.

More recently, Galen has refocused his anarchistic attitudes into other endeavors, some of which he has discovered on his own, while others have been imposed by Prince Herrel. Specifically, Galen has been developing and honing his love of music with the help of his teacher (whom remains a mysterious unknown individual to all but Galen). Through his playing of the mandolin, poetry, storytelling, and singing, Galen has discovered that he can uncannily uplift the spirits of others and cause various mystic events to occur. Galen has used these newfound abilities to increase his status in the eyes of the Munevarians and others, by routinely performing at all opportunities (whether appropriate or not). Galen is very self-centered and immensely enjoys being the center of attention … instead of Dedric for once! Much to his father's chagrin, Galen ultimately feels that being an entertainer is his true calling, and he relishes the opportunity to travel away from Munevar and explore distant cities and lands.

In an attempt to discipline, train, and culture his defiant son, Prince Herrel has exposed Galen to the fighting arts through a full-time trainer and confidant Darcius Kleese. Although Darcius is an extremely skilled and tough warrior, he loves drinking and wenching at the local tavern as much as Oliver and Galen. As a result, Galen's training has not progressed as quickly as the Prince would have hoped (of course the Prince continues to blame his son for his slothfulness and unwillingness to learn, and bears no ill regard towards Darcius). As well, through the teachings of their household guest, the older and wiser priest of St. Cuthbert, Cedric Cromwell, Prince Herrel hopes to instill a sense of responsibility, honor, and duty into his son. However, Galen, unbeknownst to his family, is moderately religious and only pays tribute to Olidammara, if at all. Galen initially despised Cedric's presence and "interference" in his life, but has more recently come to accept the "old man" as a friend; of course Galen would never admit this to the priest face-to-face, but he is sure that Cedric knows.

Through a slowly growing trust and successful completion of various tasks (ie: solving the mystery of the druid attacks at Kleese and resolving the crisis at Delcouth), Galen has been permitted by his father to adventure into the Adri with his friends Darcius and Oliver, the surveyor Cedric, the enforcer Isaac, and the mysterious and even more intractable mage Ryvvik, in order to survey the slaver situation. Galen relishes these adventures and sees each outing as a chance to distance himself from the trivialities of life in Munevar. Although Galen's companions keep him in his place and prevent his head from swelling too much, he is under the impression that he truly is "in charge". As such, Galen is prone to emotional childish outbursts and acting out (as the Order of the Raven armory discovered in Delcouth) when his efforts to use his family name and lineage in order to persuade, influence, or oversee others fails.

With his new found friends and direction in his life, Galen seems to have regained focus. He immensely enjoys adventuring and continues to hone his mystical musical talents at all opportunities. Despite his current happiness, Galen pines for the mysterious and beautiful bard Minn, whom he met at Errant Keep. Although distrusted by his friends, Galen was taken by her and extremely saddened when she left him for reasons she could not divulge. He hopes to see her one-day, and in the meantime, to the annoyance of Oliver, continues to compose sonnets and poetics to honor her. As well, Galen has many questions concerning his Grandfather's mysterious death, after which Prince Herrel conveniently and subsequently took power. Galen is planning one day to journey to the tower of the man who traveled and adventured with his Grandfather (Munevar) in order to ask him all that he knows about it. Galen also hopes that that man may also have the answers concerning his most prized possession…

Galen's most prized possession is his rapier (and not his craftsman's grade mandolin). It is a long and slender steel blade etched with organic inlays of gold. An intricate basket hilt of gold protects the user's hand and has a pattern of a striking falcon visible within it. The handle is soft leather with a golden sphere at the end. Apparently, the blade was once inlaid with gems, for there are sockets where they used to be visible on the base of the blade, the guard, and the hilt. The blade was a gift from Galen's mother and once belonged to her father, Baron Erdic Von Heslin. Its origin is unknown, but with the Falcon Blade, the Baron was known throughout the land as a dueling master. The Baron's skill was great in its own right, but when he wielded the sword, he seemed to fly at his opponent with uncanny speed and grace. Unfortunately, when the Baron fell on hard financial times, he was forced to sell off most of his wealth. Though the sword is something the Baron refused to sell due to its great sentimental value, it seems he pried the gems out of it since they were worth a small fortune. As the sword lost the gems, so too did the Baron lose his unnatural speed and skill. Galen's mother eventually received the weapon when the Baron passed away. Lady Jenne told Galen that she believes that one of the sword's gems was given to Grandfather Munevar as part of the dowry when she wed Prince Herrel. This further entices Galen to eventually confront and ask his Grandfather's friend, the man in the tower, if he knows the whereabouts of the gem(s) and the circumstances surrounding his Grandfather's demise. That man is Voliker.
